Meet The Murcia Family
Jose Walter Murcia works in a workshop painting cars. He recently lost his wife due to a disease, which put him in charge of raising his three daughters and his grandson. At this moment, they do not live with him because of the conditions of his house.
Jose dreams of owning a new home to meet again with his daughters and his grandson, and to have something stable to enjoy at the time of his retirement.
Where does your donation go?
The Project
With your contribution, TECHO will be able to give this family a new home. It takes two full days to build the house. The home stands on 12 piles and is raised from the ground to protect from moisture, floods, and pests. The home is made out of prefabricated wood panels, which allows beneficiary families and volunteers to participate in the construction without considerable technical training.
The Impact
TECHO will use all donations raised by the participants in this competition to build them a new home. If this campaign exceeds the fundraising target needed to build houses for the five families listed as beneficiaries, TECHO will use the surplus to support the construction of new homes for other needy families.
