Meet The Nino Family
Hamey Nino has lived alone in the community for over a year and has an informal job as a candy vendor in the traffic lights. He suffered an accident on a farm 26 years ago, which caused the loss of one of his arms. This accident made it difficult for him to get a better job.
For him to have a TECHO house means having a new start and having a safe and proper place to live. A place to call “home”.
Where does your donation go?
The Project
With your contribution, TECHO will be able to give this family a new home. It takes two full days to build the house. The home stands on 12 piles and is raised from the ground to protect from moisture, floods, and pests. The home is made out of prefabricated wood panels, which allows beneficiary families and volunteers to participate in the construction without considerable technical training.
The Impact
TECHO will use all donations raised by the participants in this competition to build them a new home. If this campaign exceeds the fundraising target needed to build houses for the five families listed as beneficiaries, TECHO will use the surplus to support the construction of new homes for other needy families.
